Jim was a DJ on Radio Station WFIT in Melbourne Florida from 1986-1992, under the radio name “Jimmy Velcro”. This was a college radio station for the Florida Institute of Technology, but it was more of a community station than a college function. The station was primarily New Wave/Alternative music, with a few other specialty shows thrown in. It was also ranked as one of the Top 3 College Radio Stations in the United States by Radio & Records Trade Magazine during this time. Another great part of this was the opportunity to host concerts and meet quite a few members of the bands. Some of the bands included The Psychedelic Furs, Flesh For LuLu, Gene Love Jezebel, Peter Murphy, Oingo Boingo, Mojo Nixon, Skinny Puppy, A Split Second, The Church, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, and many others.
